About
Hi, I’m Penny. Welcome to 4 Little Learners blog – a space where I share my family’s learning adventures. I live on the coast of Western Australia with my husband and four little learners (Miss 9, Mr 7, Mr 5 and Little Miss 3). I am a primary school teacher turned homeschool Mum and feel incredibly blessed to have the opportunity to be part of my children’s learning journey at home.…..and love it!!!. I really enjoy the flexibility and lifestyle of homeschooling, the extended opportunity for the growth and nurture of family relationships and being part of my children’s unique learning journeys.
I like to build strong foundations of literacy and numeracy through fun hands-on activities. In addition, we spend a lot of time reading together – everything from poetry, nursery rhymes, picture books; to classics, information books and chapter books.
Being in nature fosters a sense of peace, joy and wonder and so we go on nature walks, keep nature journals and use nature finds in our learning activities. I also throw in some hands-on maths fun, individual lessons, space for natural learning and investigation in areas of interest (like science, geography, history etc), with plenty of time for free play, creativity and exploration.
When I get a ‘quiet moment’, I like to be by the sea to swim, surf, read, pray, journal, draw, exercise or just be.
I’m passionate about creating communities of homeschooling families that love, support and care for each other. So, as we ride the ups and downs of this journey of educating our children at home, it is my hope that you may be encouraged and supported in your own journey.
